Basin events for January 2025
COLUMBIA BASIN — It’s a brand-new year and there are lots of things to do around the Basin. Here are a few ideas:
Jan. 1
New Year’s Day at the Flower Farm
Ring in New Years Day with a potluck at the Flower Farm. If there’s snow the sledding hill will be open. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m. Hosts will provide two turkeys and a hot cocoa bar; attendees should bring a side dish to share. RSVP to Valerie, 509-431-1879.
Jan. 2
Nonprofit Meetup
All Moses Lake non-profits and service organizations are welcome. Share what your organization is all about, what your current needs are and network with other local nonprofits. One lucky nonprofit will win $100 donation from Care Moses Lake. Bring your own lunch. 12 p.m. at the Downtown Moses Lake Association office, 205 S. Division St. Info: 509-770-1002.
Jan. 3
First Friday Jam
7-9 p.m. at George Community Hall, 403 W. Montmorency Blvd. Anyone with an instrument can come and play; anyone with ears can come and listen. Info: www.georgecommunityhall.com.
Jan. 4
Free Family Saturday
Crafters of all ages are invited to make a winter tree suncatcher. No charge, and all materials are supplied. 12-2 p.m. at the Moses Lake Museum & Art Center, 401 S. Balsam St. Info: 509-764-3830.
Sensory Storytime
A storytime for children from 3 to 7 years old with sensory needs. It will be a storytime that is especially welcoming to neurodivergent children and their families. No sign up required. 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Moses Lake Public Library, 418 E. Fifth Avenue. Info: 509-765-3489.
Concealed Carry Class
This 4-hour comprehensive training course is designed to educate individuals on the laws and regulations surrounding the carrying of concealed firearms. This class covers essential topics such as the use of force, firearms safety and the proper handling and storage of firearms, as well as the specific laws and any requirements for obtaining permits in Washington, Oregon, and Arizona. Upon completion of the class, attendees will be eligible to apply for the above-mentioned permits and will also receive a WA - HB-1143 Gun Safety Certificate. Cost is $74.99. Borderline

Jan. 9
Singo
Singo is a new and exciting musical spin on the traditional game of Bingo. Instead of listening for a number, players are listening to their favorite music. Each player receives a free Singo card printed with the titles of popular songs. While Singo randomly plays song clips, players can sing along and mark matching song titles on their cards. The first player to mark five songs in a row and to shout "Singo" wins the round. Admission is free and prizes will be awarded. 6 p.m. at the Moses Lake Taproom, 530 W. Valley Road. Coffee and Conversation
Every month the Downtown Moses Lake Association hosts a different presentation from employees or business owners in Moses Lake. Elks Hoop Shoot free throw competition
Boys and girls 8-13 years old are invited to participate in a free throw contest. Must bring a parent or guardian to sign you up. Once all participants are registered the contest will begin. Dancing with the Moses Lake Stars
Six local talents will compete, dancing with professionals from the Utah Dance Company. The winner receives the coveted mirror ball trophy – and bragging rights. There are many ways for the public to help them win – donate to a dancer, buy tickets to the event and vote for your favorite. Proceeds support the Central Basin Community Concert Association. An Evening with Unspoken
Worship and music with the Christian band Unspoken. With four straight top-5 AC singles and chart toppers, they are known for their soulful, pop-infused sound and powerful lyrics. Featuring hit songs like "Start A Fire," "Reason" and "Good Fight," the band’s mission is to share hope and inspire faith through music.
