Moses Lake man arrested for DUI after being tased
MOSES LAKE – Abel Valdez, 32, of Moses Lake was arrested Friday evening after he reportedly caused damage to a Grant County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle, according to a GCSO statement.
A patrol deputy noticed a slow-moving car with hazard lights flashing on Patton Boulevard Northeast in the Larson Community in unincorporated Moses Lake at about 11:15 p.m. Smoke was coming from the car’s front end and two of its tires were flat. The car stopped then resumed movement as the deputy approached, the statement said.
The vehicle did not exceed 20 mph, but tapped the patrol vehicle as it tried to go around the patrol vehicle. Valdez got out of the vehicle and attempted to run from the scene near West Craig Street and Larson Boulevard. He was tased after refusing to obey commands by law enforcement officers and arrested.
Valdez faces charges of driving under the influence, felony eluding, felony harassment: threats to kill, and first-degree driving while license suspended.
Valdez was still listed as in custody on the Grant County Jail inmate roster Saturday afternoon.
MACC 911 and the Moses Lake Police Department aided GCSO in the incident response.
