MOSES LAKE — There’s a new Mexican store coming to town, and it’s got a twist: drive-thru service.

Construction has been underway since August on a building at 914 W. Third Ave., which will be Carniceria La Nueva, according to owner Miguel Alanis.

“Our plan is to open a store with a bakery, Mexican express deli, meats, fruits, veggies and a bit of grocery,” Alanis wrote in an email to the Columbia Basin Herald. “We will be offering American-style cuts, Mexican cuts and our special drive-thru service for the Mexican deli and the meats.”

Carniceria La Nueva will be the first Mexican deli with a drive-thru in Moses Lake, Alanis said in an interview.

The Alanis-Marcos family, originally from Guerrero, Mexico, is not new to the Moses Lake business scene. The family also owns Los Cocos Grill and Laundry El Primo on West Broadway Avenue, according to state records, and also Rainbow Daycare. They formerly owned Carniceria El Primo, on Elder Street, but had sold it several years before the building caved in in 2021, Alanis said.

Carniceria La Nueva is expected to open in April, Alanis said, and the grand opening will feature a 50% discount on all Mexican deli items.
