COLUMBIA BASIN — Now that Christmas is over and the new year is just around the corner, does it seem like there’s nothing to do? Think again. Here are a few things happening in our communities this week:
Dec. 27
Pottery Club
Are you interested in trying pottery? This casual pottery program is your chance to get your hands dirty and give it a go. This class is geared towards self-starters and the museum will provide you with a small amount of clay, tools and glaze. Three pottery wheels are also available for more experienced potters. Each session includes a bisque fire and a glaze fire. Glaze days are two weeks after each session or by appointment. 1-3 p.m. at the Moses Lake Museum & Art Center, 401 S. Open Mic Night

Preschool story time

Teacher Appreciation Day
Join the Moses Lake Museum & Art Center for a day dedicated to honoring the teachers who impact our lives. Expect giveaways, details about museum field trips, a complimentary craft session and much more. Digital Music Club
Digital music and video are everywhere. Learn how to make your own music using computers, tablets and/or phones. Ephrata Librarian Aaron will teach participants how to use apps like Garage Band, Logic Pro and more. Family-Friendly New Year’s Eve Party

Nonprofit Meetup
All Moses Lake non-profits and service organizations are welcome. Share what your organization is all about, what your current needs are and network with other local nonprofits. First Friday Jam

Free Family Saturday

Concealed Carry Class
This four-hour comprehensive training course is designed to educate individuals on the laws and regulations surrounding the carrying of concealed firearms. This class covers essential topics such as the use of force, firearms safety and the proper handling and storage of firearms, as well as the specific laws and any requirements for obtaining permits in Washington, Oregon and Arizona. Upon completion of the class, attendees will be eligible to apply for the above-mentioned permits and will also receive a WA — HB-1143 Gun Safety Certificate. Cost is $74.99.
