BASIN WRESTLING REPORT: Ephrata wins Warden tourney, Othello takes 15th at Tri-State
MOSES LAKE – Basin wrestlers stayed busy this weekend, traveling to tournaments from Cashmere to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Several teams finished in the top three of their respective tournaments, including the Ephrata girls wrestling team that won the Warden Women’s Wrestling Invite.
Brice Williams Invite – Spangle
Boys wrestling teams from Almira/Coulee-Hartline, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague and Warden all took the mats at Saturday’s Brice Williams Invite in Spangle, with the Cougars leading local finishes by taking fifth with 101.5 points. ACH finished 10th with 76 points and LRS took 15th with 45 points.
Okanogan won the tournament with 193.5 points, followed by Liberty (Spangle) in second place and Kettle Falls in third.

Sophomore Samuel Aquilar (106 pounds, first), sophomore Raylen Heredia (113, fourth), junior Erik Camacho (120, first), and junior Gabriel Serna (215, third).
Almira/Coulee-Hartline – 10th place

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague – 15th place
The Broncos brought seven wrestlers to the tournament, scoring 45 points to finish in 15th place of the Brice Williams Invite.

Cashmere Invitational – Cashmere
Three local teams traveled to Chelan County for the Cashmere Invitational on Saturday, with Royal Knights leading the way for Basin teams with a fourth-place finish, scoring 107.5 points. Joining the Knights were the Quincy Jackrabbits, who finished sixth with 100.5 points, and the Wahluke Warriors, who finished in 12th place with one point.
Mount Baker won the tournament with 183 points, followed by Cashmere in second and Eastmont in third.

Connell Invitational — Connell
Following tournament winner Pasco, boys wrestling teams from Ephrata and Othello rounded out the top three at Saturday’s Connell Invitational, with the Tigers scoring 213 points to take second and the Huskies taking third with 184.5 points.

Kennewick Lioness Invitational – Kennewick
Three local girls wrestling teams finished in the top 10 at Saturday’s Kennewick Lioness Invitational; Othello finished in second place with 187 points, Royal placed fourth as a team with 153 points and Moses Lake took seventh with 130.5 points. Rounding out the local finishes was Quincy, who placed 12th with 59.5 points at the tournament.
Toppenish won the tournament with 223.5 points.

Tri-State – Coeur d’Alene, Idaho
Wrestling at North Idaho College, the Othello Huskies took 15th place in a talented field of more than 50 teams from across the Pacific Northwest, scoring 107.5 points at the two-day tournament. Moses Lake took 18th at the tournament with 88 points, and two Quincy wrestlers scored 10 points at Tri-State.

Ephrata came out on top of Saturday’s Warden Women’s Wrestling Invite, finishing nearly 40 points ahead of second-place Grandview by scoring 182 points at the tournament. Rounding out the top three was Okanogan, while Warden took 8th and ACH placed 13th.
