Mary Bernard, who grew up, graduated from high school and spent much of her life in Moses Lake, died earlier this month in Spokane. She was 80 and had been in good health before her death of natural causes.
She was born Mary Ann Harden in Portland, Ore., to Arno and Betty Harden, who both were working in the Portland shipyards during World War II. Mary was the oldest of four children.
She was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Moses Lake and worked for Washington Mutual Bank there for several years.
She is survived by her son, James Paul, of Post Falls, Idaho, three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, as well as by her brother, Blaine Harden, in Seattle.
