One dead, one injured after three-vehicle collision
QUINCY — A 58-year-old Quincy man died, and one other person was injured during a three-vehicle collision that occurred at about 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Eric Keyes was driving east on Road 5-Northwest in a 2001 Ford Escort when 20-year-old Roger Torres Rodriguez of East Wenatchee, driving a 2002 Toyota Camry, crossed the center line and struck Keyes' vehicle head-on. Both vehicles came to a rest in the middle of Road 5-Northwest near Road T-Northwest.
A couple minutes later, a third vehicle driven by 32-year-old Jason Sparks of Moses Lake struck the two vehicles.
All three parties were wearing seatbelts.
Keyes and Rodriques were transported via ambulance to Quincy Valley Medical Center. Keyes died a short time later. Rodriques sustained serious injuries and was transported by air ambulance to an out-of-area hospital. Sparks declined treatment.
Keyes’ family was notified, and his body is in the care of Grant County Coroner Craig Morrison who is conducting an autopsy.
The Grant County Sheriff’s Motor Traffic Unit is conducting an investigation. The cooperating agencies were the Multi-Agency Communications Center, Grant County Fire District 3, Columbia EMS, Quincy Police Department, Grant County Public Works Department, Grant County Coroner's Office and GCSO.
