MOSES LAKE – Tuesday at around 4 p.m. the City of Moses Lake Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire on West Texas Street, according to a release from MLFD.

When crews arrived at the scene, they found a single-story residence engulfed in flames, fire venting and heavy black smoke from the back door of the structure. The structure was unoccupied by people, however there were four animals inside the residence. MLFD was able to locate two animals inside the structure – who passed from smoke inhalation. The other two animals were helped by a passerby who took the pets to safety.

The fire was put out within 15 minutes of the department’s arrival. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The department is asking for anyone with information to contact MLFD Fire Marshal’s Office at 509-765-2204 or Moses Lake Police Department at 509-762-1160.
