Senior events calendar for December 2024

COLUMBIA BASIN — December is brimming with things for seniors to do, whether it’s gift shopping for the grandchildren or taking a break from the holiday spirit with a little music. Here are a few things coming up:  


Dec. 6  


Moses Lake Ag Appreciation Parade and Street Party  


Music and free french fries, hot chocolate and s’mores, as well as photos with Santa, followed by a parade with trucks and farm equipment decked out in bright lights. Street party begins at 5 p.m., parade at 7 p.m. at Sinkiuse Square, Moses Lake. Info: www.downtownmoseslake.org.  


Dec. 7  


Winterfest  


Holiday bazaar, library book sale turkey bingo, hot coffee and cocoa. The fun starts at 10 a.m., and Santa will make his appearance at 4 p.m. in downtown Soap Lake. Info: www.soaplakecoc.com.  


A Christmas Miracle on Main Street  


Food vendors, craft vendors and more starting at noon, then parade and tree lighting at 5 p.m. Othello City Hall, 500 E. Main St. Info: 509-331-6768.


Christmas at the Market  


Local vendors, food and live music. 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Quincy Public Market, 1004 F St. SW. Info: quincypublicmarket.net.  


December Market  


Join the Moses Lake Farmers Market for artisan crafters and produce, festive foods and baked goods. 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Grant County Fairgrounds, 3953 Airway Drive NE, Moses Lake. Info: farmersmarketml.com.  


Festival of Trees  


Support Habitat for Humanity and bring home a beautifully decorated tree. Banquet and live and silent auctions. 5-9:30 p.m. at the Big Bend Community College ATEC building. Info: 509-765-4030.  


Dec. 13  


H.E. Gritman Senior Center Fundraising Breakfast 


Enjoy a delicious breakfast of pancakes and sausage or biscuits and gravy and sausage. Cost is $7 Takeout orders are accepted during breakfast hours. All proceeds go to support the activities at the Senior Center. 7:30-12:30 a.m. at 118 W. Main Ave., Ritzville. Info:  509-659-1921. 


Celtic Christmas Celebration  


Violinist Geoffrey Castle’s “Celtic Christmas” program will feature his Celtic All-Star Band, Irish tenor Dan Connolly, singer Emily McIntosh, bagpiper Don Scobie and the Seattle Irish Dance Company.

Dec. 14  


Bells on Basin  


Breakfast with Santa at 8 a.m. and Polar Express passports at 10 a.m. Hot cocoa and popcorn will be served free at 4:30 p.m. along with the tree lighting and live music, followed by the Bells on Basin Parade at 5 p.m. Ephrata Recreation Center, 121 Alder St. SW. Info: www.ephratachamber.org.   


Rocky Ford Band 


Come enjoy classic rock, class country, bluegrass and folk music in an evening of fun, dancing and entertainment. Cost is $7 per person. Dinner is served at 5 p.m. and the band plays at 6 p.m. at the Moses Lake Senior Center, 608 E. Third Ave., Info: moseslakeseniorcenter.org. 


The Marlin Handbell Ringers  


Experience the enchanting sound of 100 English handbells, bringing beloved holiday classics to life. Audiences will be treated to timeless favorites like "Ukrainian Bell Carol," "Let It Snow," "Still, Still, Still" and "Deck the Halls." Plus, the concert will conclude with a fun sing-along, inviting all to join in the festive cheer. Don't miss this special holiday experience — perfect for family and friends to enjoy together.
