Diamond Shruumz continue to present health risks
MOSES LAKE — Diamond Shruumz products have been officially recalled by the FDA; however, people are still obtaining them resulting in illness, hospitalization and two potential deaths, according to Grant County Health District. The GCHD put out a statement saying that there have been 145 illnesses, two of which have been in Washington and one in Grant County.
In July 2024, GCHD released an alert notifying the community of a recall for all Diamond Shruumz products which are “edibles” containing a blend of mushrooms. The products include chocolate bars, gummies and cones. People consuming these products were reporting symptoms such as seizures, abnormal heart rates, blood pressure issues, nausea and vomiting. If consumed, the Washington State Department of Health says to contact Poison Control at 800-222-1222.
The Columbia Herald Basin priorly reported on this July 13. The products were sold online and in vape or smoke shops nationwide, including in Grant County. According to GCHD, people should not eat, sell or serve these products. If found in stores, the department asks that it be reported to the FDA by calling this number: 800-353-3965.
The compounds found in the Diamond Shruumz products have known effects when ingested individually. However, the FDA and CDC are researching the potential health risks of the combined ingredients found in Diamond Shruumz.
