Masquers plan pirate-themed Saturday membership gala
SOAP LAKE — The Masquers Theater will hold its annual membership gala Saturday.
“Masquers Marks the Spot” is this year’s theme, and guests are encouraged to break out their best tricorn hats and eye patches for the occasion. Pirate music will be provided by the Seven Cs, said Masquers member Clifford Bresee.
The Masquers will perform bits from the shows they’ve put on over the last year and preview the fall musical, which this year is “Annie,” Bresee said. There will be “tasty morsels and libations,” according to the Masquers’ website, including wine donated by Camas Cove Cellars of Moses Lake. Several other local businesses have donated raffle prizes, and Snap Haven will have a photo booth. The Masquers will also bestow some awards from the last season and reveal what the next year has in store on their stage.
This isn’t the first time the Masquers have buckled some swashes this year. The troupe’s Summer Youth Drama Camp staged “Captain Brie and her Lady Pirates” in July.
The membership gala is free to the public, Bresee said, because it’s not a fundraiser.
“It is a membership event,” he said. “It's kind of a way to both celebrate our current members and encourage people to sign up for membership if they're interested. So we celebrate the last season (and) we look forward to the coming season.”
