Adams County Commissioner incumbents lead in final primary results

RITZVILLE — The Adams County Auditor certified the election results for the Aug. 6 primary election on Aug. 20. There are 8,117 registered voters in the county. There were 2,560 ballots counted which was 31.54% of voter turnout.  

The District One County Commission race had two candidates and 1,499 votes. Dan Blakenship, Republican, received 935 votes. David Lope, Republican, received 550 votes. There were 14 write-in votes. Only voters in the district represented by the candidates vote in the primary.  

The District Two County Commission had two candidates and 366 votes. Ray R Weise, Republican, received 201 votes. Hank Rivard, Republican, received 159 votes. There were 6 write-in votes.  

District Nine State Senator had one candidate and 1,681 votes in Adams County. Mark G. Schoesler, Republican, received 1,610 votes. There were 71 write-in votes. Districtwide Schoesler received 29,574 votes. 

District Nine State Representative Position One had two candidates and 1,926 votes in Adams County. Mary Dye, Republican, received 1,591 votes. Patrick Miller, Democrat, received 350 votes. There were 15 write-in votes. Dye received 26,988 votes district-wide to 13,537 to Miller. 

Legislative District 9 State Representative Position Two had three candidates and 1,978 votes in Adams County. Joe Schmick, Republican, received 1,598 votes. Pam Kohlmeier, Democrat, received 280 votes. Arianna Arends, Democrat, received 97 votes. There were five write-in votes. Districtwide Schmick received 26,958 votes to 11,582 for Kohlmeier and 1,438 for Arends.  

Legislative District 13 State Representative Position One had one candidate and 436 votes in Adams County. Tom Dent, Republican, received 425 votes. There were 11 write-in votes. Dent received 23,543 in the district.  

Legislative District 13 State Representative Position Two had one candidate and 419 votes in Adams County. Alex Ybarra, Republican, received 406 votes. There were 13 write-in votes. Districtwide Ybarra received 23,404 votes.  

The Lind Park and Recreation Three Special Election Proposition One passed with 272 total votes. 185 votes or 68.01% of voters approved and 87 votes or 31.99% of voters rejected.  

Ritzville Park and Recreation Four Special Election Proposition One passed with 764 total votes. 498 votes approved or 65.18% of voters and 266 votes or 34.82% of voters rejected.  

Adams County Cemetery District One Special Election, Proposition One, passed with 122 total votes. 98 votes or 80.33% of voters approved and 24 votes or 19.67% of voters rejected. 

The Cemetery District Two Special Election Proposition One did not pass with 1,253 total votes. Of those, 669 votes or 54.26% of voters approved and 564 votes or 45.74% of voters rejected. Financial propositions must receive 60% of voter's approval to pass.
