COULEE CITY — In the most recent assessment audit conducted by the Office of the Washington State Auditor, Coulee-Hartline School District No. 151 was found to be in substantial compliance with applicable state laws, regulations, and its own policies.

The audit, which covered the period from Sept. 1, 2022, to Aug. 31, 2023, did not uncover any issues that would indicate a lack of controls over the safeguarding of public resources. For the 2022-2023 school year, the district operated on a general fund revenue budget of about $4.4 million.

The audit focused on various aspects of the district's operations, including compliance with the Open Public Meetings Act, internal controls over assets, revenues, and disbursements, and the accuracy and completeness of financial reports submitted to the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction. The assessment also included a review of the district's annual revenues and expenditures for any irregularities or trends, payroll transactions, and financial distress indicators.

Coulee-Hartline School District No. 151, located in Grant County, serves approximately 200 students from kindergarten through 12th grade. The district operates an elementary school for grades K-5 and a high school for grades 9-12, and a middle school for grades 6-8 through a cooperative agreement with the Almira School District. The district's operations are overseen by an elected five-member Board of Directors, with a superintendent appointed to manage daily operations and staff.
