Sandra “Sandy” Hill

| August 8, 2024 3:35 PM

Sandra “Sandy” Hill, 75, met her heavenly family Aug. 7, 2024. Sandy was born Oct. 26, 1948, in Walla Walla, Wash. She was the daughter of the late Angelo and Carolyn Grassi and sister of the late Judy Wahl.

Sandy began working for the Columbia Basin Herald in 1974 as a receptionist and eventually became the sales manager. In 2001 she transferred to Hagadone Directories and quickly became Regional Sales Manager. Upon her retirement she had worked over 40 years with the Hagadone Corporation.

In 1972, she married Steve Hill. They were happily married for over 44 years. Together they made many life-long friends, raised a family and loved being a part of the Moses Lake community. After Steve’s passing, she was lucky enough to fall in love again to a wonderful man — Bob Fisk. They spent the last four years laughing, playing cards, dinner dates and truly enjoying each day they spent together.

Sandy was everyone’s friend. Her laugh and smile were contagious. She loved throwing “fancy” dinner parties — inviting friends and family over for her famous 10 course meals. Pinterest was her favorite cookbook, providing her with endless recipes. She was known for her delicious cookies and her unbelievable rhubarb pie. Sandy was super easy to talk to and was one of those rare people who was a great listener and always had positive advice.

Sandy’s passion was her family. Her phone was packed with pictures of grandchildren and great grandchildren. There was never a bad time for family to stop by and visit. She would whip something up in the kitchen and always had a plate of goodies. Every holiday was a cause for a celebration — which meant Sandy breaking out her box of games, her holiday menu and her specialty drinks.

Sandy is survived by her loving partner, Bob Fisk, who she loved dearly, daughter Michelle and Matt Krogh of Moses Lake, son Michael and Julie Laufer of Surprise, Ariz., and son Rick Laufer of Portland, Ore. Her grandchildren include Collin Krogh, Madison and Isaac Taylor, Brandon and Payton Laufer, Jordan Laufer, Tyler and Kim Laufer, Saydee and late Sandra Laufer and five great grandchildren: Mackenzie, Madison, Melissa, Blakely, Brantley and soon to come Bentley.

Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, Aug. 18, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Paradise Restaurant Banquet Room (located downstairs) 3000 West Marina Drive in Moses Lake. Please bring a smile and a story to share!
