Cougar men's basketball announces WCC slate
PULLMAN — The Washington State men's basketball team announced its 2024-25 West Coast Conference schedule. The Cougars, who joined the WCC for the season as affiliate members alongside Oregon State, will renew a historic regional series with Gonzaga as part of the 18-game schedule, culminating in the 2025 WCC Tournament in Las Vegas, Nev.
"We're excited to announce our conference matchups for this season," WSU Head Coach David Riley said. "The WCC offers us a competitive slate of games and an opportunity to compete against top teams on the west coast."
Key matchups in WSU's nine home games include against 2024 postseason participants San Francisco on Jan. 4, Saint Mary's on Jan. 25, and a showdown against regional opponent Gonzaga on Wednesday, Feb. 19.
"I can't wait to see Beasley rowdy and loud throughout the year," Riley added. "We are looking forward to putting a talented group of Cougs on the court and returning to the postseason."
The Cougars' conference campaign begins in Portland on Saturday, Dec. 28, against the Portland Pilots. Wazzu holds a 12-2 record against UP, most recently winning a home-and-home series in 2011-12.
WSU will host its first WCC home game against Loyola Marymount (LMU), Dec. 30, at Beasley Coliseum. The Lions have never traveled to Pullman, holding a 2-2 record against the Cougs with three neutral-site meetings in 1986, 1991 and 2016.
The final home games of the conference schedule begin Wednesday, Feb. 19 against Gonzaga, kicking off a three-game homestand. The Cougars and 'Zags have not met since Dec. 2, 2015, with WSU holding the 98-52 all-time advantage. WSU has not traveled to the McCarthey Athletic Center since 2011.
The WCC schedule will conclude March 6-11 in Las Vegas, Nev., for the 2025 WCC Men's Basketball Tournament at The Orleans Arena.
