The reports below were provided by the sheriff’s office or police department. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Moses Lake PD
July 21
Report of drive by shooting. Detectives are continuing to investigate the drive-by shooting on Central Drive which occurred about 10:45 p.m. on July 21. No injuries reported. While this investigation is ongoing. Detectives developed probable cause for the juvenile suspect and contacted him on July 25 at 5:30 p.m. where he was taken into custody without incident. Investigation ongoing.
July 23
Report of male subject parked in middle school parking lot. Subject was contacted and asked to leave.
Report of a disabled vehicle at East Broadway Avenue and North Stratford Road. Vehicle was pushed off the road and left in front of a store on south Alder Street.
Report of suspect using drugs in the bathroom a business in the 900 block of North Stratford Raod. Officers located suspect in the restroom with drug paraphernalia. Suspect denied using drugs. Reporting party wanted to press charges for first-degree criminal trespassing.
Report of collision on Division Street. Vehicle one and vehicle two were northbound on Division St. Vehicle one rear ended vehicle two at a high rate of speed. Vehicle one had multiple airbag deployment. Driver one admitted to looking away from the roadway just prior to this traffic accident. Vehicle one sustained reportable damage to the front bumper and front windshield. Vehicle two sustained reportable damage to the rear bumper.
Report of a subject disturbing employees while working at the library. Police responded and requested the subject to leave.
Report of two-vehicle collision. Vehicle two was on West Fourth Avenue between Beech Street and Ash Street. Vehicle one merged into vehicle two and hit vehicle two on the driver's side of the car, causing damage down the side of the vehicle. Vehicle one sustained damage to the front right corner panel. Then vehicle two parked on the side of the road. Vehicle one pulled in front of vehicle two and then backed up and struck vehicle two.
Report of several juveniles taking food and eating it in a business on East Broadway Avenue. The reported juveniles were still in the store when the officers arrived. Officers trespassed the suspects and the juveniles were picked up by a family member of one of the juveniles.
Report of a vehicle losing a wheel as it was in motion. The vehicle was inoperable on Wheeler. A tow was requested for the driver.
Report of domestic violence involving property damage. Police responded and will file charges for malicious mischief – domestic violence.
Report of a suspect in a business on North Stratford Road. A suspect entered the store and caused a disturbance. Officers responded and escorted the suspect from the store. Suspect arrested for two counts of first-degree criminal trespassing.
Report of a stolen bag out of a vehicle. Reporting party not from the area.
Report of male suspect continued to return to a business on west Broadway Avenue. Police contacted the suspect and told him to leave the property, which he did.
Report of theft at a business on North Stratford Road. Suspects failed to scan items and passed all points of sale.
Report of twenty subjects trespassing in Civic Park after hours. Subjects were asked to leave and reminded of the park's hours. Officers observed a large amount of trash left by the subjects.
July 24
Report of a homeless subject walking in the road naked. Police responded and provided clothes for the subject. Police informed mental health of the incident and drug use.
Report of a suspect stealing over $750 worth of tools from a work truck on East Broadway Avenue. The suspect was located and booked for second-degree burglary, third-degree theft and second-degree vehicle prowling.
Report of a container with drugs on the outside of her apartment building on East Sharon Avenue. Police took the container and drugs and will destroy them.
Report of a male arrested on confirmed federal warrant through the United States Marshals Service. Male was transported and booked into the Grant County Jail without incident.
Report of a theft at a business on South Pioneer Way.
Report of cold damage. Reporting party said her vehicle tires were slashed, and the apartment complex identified the suspect.
Report of a male suspect stealing from a business and then fleeing into a vehicle. Suspect was later located leaving the business and running into a residence; suspect came out and was detained. Suspect admitted to the theft.
Report of a two-vehicle collision. Vehicle one was backing out of the parking stall when vehicle two was pulling into the right of vehicle one. Vehicle one collided with vehicle two on the back left corner panel. Vehicle one sustained damage on the back right corner panel.
Report of a two-vehicle collision. Vehicle two was driving north on South Pioneer Way, approaching East Olive Avenue, where there was construction and a flagger. Vehicle one was behind vehicle two and was following too close. When vehicle two slowed for traffic stopping, vehicle one rear ended vehicle two. Vehicle two sustained damage to the back of the vehicle and vehicle one had damage on the front bumper.
Report of a vehicle collision on Mart Road. Police assisted with the exchange of information.
Report of juveniles throwing rocks and cursing in the apartment complex area on East Craig Street. Officers checked the area and did not find the juveniles.
Report of police assisting medics with a drunk female. Female was transported to Samaritan Hospital.
Report of a theft at a business on North Stratford Road. Female suspect was seen getting into a white vehicle belonging to male suspect. Consent to search was given and drugs were found inside the vehicle.
Report of a suspect was verbally trespassed from a store on South Pioneer Way. The suspect was playing guitar at the entrance on the sidewalk. The suspect said he would just stay away from the store.
Report of a female being observed stuffing grocery items into her tote bag while shopping on North Stratford Road. The suspect passed all points of sales before she was taken into custody and identified. The suspect admitted to stealing the items in her bag post Miranda rights.
July 25
Report of suspect arrested for Superior Court warrants. Suspect booked into the Grant County jail.
Report of a theft from a vehicle parked at a business on North Stratford Road. Reporting party said a purse was stolen
Report of three subjects dressed in black throwin an item which appeared to be like a baseball bat at the reporting party’s windshield, causing it to shatter. Subject that threw the bat was wearing a mask and one of the subjects was displaying a red bandana. No suspect information.
Report of unknown subject sleeping in reporting party’s car. The subject was intoxicated and believed he was in his friend's vehicle.
Report of vehicle prowl. Reporting party said sometime during the night his work truck and boat were prowled. The reporting party said an unknown subject(s) took a meter from his work vehicle and stole amps and speakers from the boat and damaged the wiring.
Report of suspects were arrested on confirmed warrants. One male ran from police and was arrested. Male was booked into the Grant County Jail on his warrants and multiple other charges.
Report that sometime during the night subject(s) slashed tires on two vehicles belonging to reporting party. Officers found two vehicles registered with slashed tires. The call was later opened, and the reporting party’s daughter also reported a tire on her vehicle was slashed after officers cleared this damage report. Officers documented the damage, and the victims will press charges if a suspect is identified.
Report of a two-vehicle non injury and no reportable collision. Vehicle one was behind vehicle two at the light on East Kittleson, waiting to turn south onto SR 17.
Report of traffic accident. Driver one was westbound on West Valley Road and failed to stop at a red light at Valley and Grape Drive. Driver two was southbound on Grape Drive, when driver one was on the left side of their vehicle. Vehicle one sustained damage to the front bumper and hood. Vehicle two and driver were not identified.
Reporting party advised that male had come to her home and attempted to open the front door. Reporting party said they had called before about the same man. Police said to call them again if male came back.
Report of a male and female suspect exiting the store on South Pioneer Way without paying for merchandise. The reporting party estimates $300 to $400 was taken without paying.
July 26
Report of two-vehicle, non-injury collision. Vehicle two was eastbound on Kinder Road Northeast. Vehicle one was stopped on North Stratford Road, waiting to turn left. Vehicle one turned left in front of vehicle two. Vehicle one and Vehicle two sustained damage to the front bumpers, hoods and grills. Vehicles towed from the roadway at owner's expense.
Ephrata PD
July 25
Report of a meth pipe inside the reporting party’s residence. The reporting party said he does not live their full time anymore and is unsure who could have left it. The pipe was taken and disposed of.
Report of unknown suspect stealing a $150,000 piece of equipment from a residence on Riverside Drive. The FedEx driver delivered the package at the back door of the residence. The reporting party did not know it was delivered until two days after the delivery. Unknown suspect and reporting party wishes for charges.
July 26
Report of a missing lock from the reporting party’s storage unit. The reporting party said nothing appeared to be missing from inside the unit. The reporting party let the storage unit’s management know and they will notify her if they see anything on the surveillance system.
Report of fraud in the 300 block of Basin Street Southwest. The reporting party said that there was a fraudulent ATM withdrawal and additional items were stolen.
Theft report. The suspect concealed several hand tools in grocery bags along with other merchandise. Loss protection witnessed the suspect pay for the other goods, but not the tools. The suspect was stopped by loss protection and the tools were recovered. Suspect to be charged with third-degree theft.
Report of three juveniles left in a car unattended. The female suspect was in the store and notified that it is not safe to leave juveniles in a car unattended.
July 27
Two-vehicle collision, non-injury collision on Basin Southwest. Vehicle two was south on Basin and making a left turn into the Safeway. Vehicle one was attempting to exit the parking lot south bound onto Basin. Vehicle two turned and while doing so vehicle one exited the parking lot, striking the rear of vehicle two.
Report of a black Kia traveling at a high rate of speed and cutting people off on Basin Street Southwest. Police checked the area and did not find the car.
Report of cold burglary in the 200 block of Columbia Road. The reporting party said miscellaneous items have slowly been disappearing.
Report of a hit and run of an attended vehicle on Division Road North and Road 19 northwest. There is the possibility of DUI.
Report of a traffic offense on Ivy southeast. The reporting party said that the suspect was driving over 50 MPH and drove through the stop sign on the second. The suspect contacted and admitted to speeding but said he had stopped. The suspect was warned for driving.
Report of an unknown suspect stealing a bag of the reporting party’s things left on the north side of the library front entrance door. The bag was a reusable WalMart bag with a baseball cap with a built-in light, underwear, socks and a Samsung A10 cell phone. Reporting party stated the theft occurred within 30 mins of him calling.
July 29
Report of barking dog in the 200 block of G. Street northeast. The reporting party said dogs were barking for the past couple of hours and requested contact over the phone.
Report of a subject wandering around a hotel parking lot. Police contacted the suspect who said he was just hanging out. The suspect was informed by the police that the hotel did not want him hanging out in the parking lot. Suspect left.
Report of a card being used on the victim’s card for a purchase she did not make. The victim is out $256.79. The victim confirmed this was the only transaction that was not hers, but another one was attempted and stopped by the bank.
Report of cold theft. The suspect tried to push a cart of merchandise out of a store but was stopped by employees. All merchandise was recovered. The suspect fled in a vehicle towards Moses Lake prior to police arrival.
Report of theft. The reporting party said he broke up with his girlfriend in the morning and let her use his car. Reporting party said in the evening, she came to his address and threw the house keys at him and took off in the car without his permission. The reporting party said the car is not registered to him, but he had just bought it.
Report of juveniles riding too fast using pocket bikes. Police arrived and did not find the juveniles.
July 30
Report of shots fired. Deputies and police showed up.
Report of a stray German shepherd running on the road. The dog appeared very skinny and was injured in the right hind leg. Several attempts were made to corner or capture the dog, but they were unsuccessful.
Report of a suspect driving. The police officer saw that the suspect had May 24 tabs and the driver's license was expired. Grant County Warrant was confirmed, and the suspect was booked.
Report of male suspect laying on the sidewalk for four to five hours on 3rd Avenue SWt. The suspect said he was waiting for the bus to take him to Quincy.
Report of the reporting party almost hitting a black and white small lab female puppy. The puppy was extremely hot and taken in. There were no tags or chips. Police said that with all the coyotes in the area, the size of the dog and how hot the dog was they decided to place her into the dog pound.
July 31
Report of a theft by two female suspects. The suspects had $471.96 worth of merchandise and paid for only a few plants before exiting the store. The suspects were located and booked into Grant County Jail.
Report of a vehicle theft from a business on Mission Creek Road. The victim gave two unknown suspects a ride from Moses Lake to Ephrata. While the victim was inside the store the two subjects left with his car. The vehicle was found shortly after it was parked at another business.
