EPHRATA — The Ephrata School Board this week selected Matthew Truscott to fill the board’s vacant position. Truscott replaces long-time board member Alan Key, who resigned from the board in February.

“Matthew is someone who has volunteered for years at athletic events, in classrooms, at the Columbia Ridge Science Fair and at other educational events,” said Anita Waller, Ephrata School Board president. “He has invested his own time to help the district make sure Ephrata students have opportunities to learn and to participate in athletic events. Matthew is a person of high integrity. He is an analytical thinker and I look forward to having his contributions and experience as a board member.”

Truscott is a longtime employee of Grant PUD, currently working in their System Operations Department. He dedicates many hours to volunteering in the community, with his church, through the Ephrata High School Athletic Department, as a former scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America and at other community events.

“I’m very excited to serve the Ephrata community as a school board member,” said Truscott. “As a parent deeply invested in the education of my children, I recognize the pivotal role that the Ephrata School District plays in shaping the future of our community. I am keen to channel my skills and dedication towards advancing Kids and Learning in the Ephrata School District.”

Truscott will serve the remainder of Key’s term, which expires in December 2025.
