MOSES LAKE — The Downtown Moses Lake Association is looking for volunteers to help with its annual spring cleanup Saturday, according to Executive Director Mallory Miller.

The volunteers will gather at 10 a.m. in the conference room at the Desert Plaza Building, 124 E. Third Ave., Miller said. They’ll then go out into the downtown blocks and alleys picking up and throwing away trash and sweeping under dumpsters.

Trash bags and gloves will be supplied by Ag Supply Ace Hardware, and WaFd Bank will supply water bottles for volunteers. There will be a few brooms available, Miller added, but volunteers are encouraged to bring their own if they can.

Lakeside Disposal will remove the trash, and will also supply rolling carts to put sharps and needles into if any are found, Miller said. The event is scheduled to run until 2 p.m., but Miller said she doubted it would take that long if there were enough volunteers.

Volunteers can just show up, Miller said, but pre-registration is preferred so the association known how many supplies to request. Volunteers can contact Miller at 509-770-1700 or by email at director@downtownmoseslake.org.

The event will coincide with the city of Moses Lake’s annual Spring Clean event, which will be held at the Surf ‘n Slide Water Park, 401 W. Fourth Ave., from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., according to an announcement from the city. Residents of Moses Lake can bring household trash, up to three cubic yards of it, to the location and Lakeside Disposal will haul it away. Residents will be expected to show a photo ID to confirm their address.

There are certain things the city will not accept, according to the announcement:

• Tires or rims

• Rocks, bricks or concrete

• Large appliances or other heavy metal items

• Hazardous waste

•  Business, government agency or contractor waste

More information is available from the city at 509-764-3701.
