Grant PUD to start sending text alerts

EPHRATA — The Grant County PUD has started a system to alert customers to electrical or fiber outages in their areas via text message. 

“Major outage alerts by text message or email have already begun to Grant PUD customers via the Everbridge Emergency Alert system. This is the same emergency alert system used by Grant County Emergency Management and many law enforcement agencies around the region,” according to a PUD press release.

“Grant PUD will use this alert service primarily for outages affecting 100 or more customers and other occasional emergency alerts,” the press release said. 

Utility district officials will keep posting messages to the PUD’s social media, the press release said. 

Grant County residents with cell phones or landlines are already in the Everbridge system, it said.
