EPHRATA — The Grant County Commission is looking for a volunteer to fill an open position on the county’s Solid Waste Advisory Committee. The position is open to applicants from southern Grant County, District 3, which includes Mattawa.

The position will be open until a suitable candidate is found, according to a commission press release.

“The SWAC assists the commissioners in the development of programs and policies concerning solid waste handling and disposal, in the preparation of solid waste management plans and by reviewing and commenting on proposed rules, policies or ordinances relating to solid waste prior to their adoption,” the press release said.

Members mostly review documents and attend meetings. The position is unpaid.

“Members are asked to attend a majority of the meetings which are held quarterly at the Public Works facility in Ephrata,” the release said.

The online application is available on the Grant County website, under “boards, commissions and districts.” People who want more information can contact Joan Sieverkropp at 509-754-6082 or jsieverkropp@grantcountywa.gov.
