Soap Lake water level lowest ever recorded
Beach-goers enjoy the water at Soap Lake’s south end early in September, despite the obviously-low water levels. On Monday, the lake’s elevation was the lowest ever recorded by the United States Geological Survey.

The town of Soap Lake lies against the south edge of Soap Lake. U.S. Bureau of Reclamation Ephrata Field Office Deputy Manager Clyde Lay said that the Bureau has not artificially propped up Soap Lake’s water level since the 1950s.

SOAP LAKE — On Monday, Soap Lake’s water level was the lowest it has been — at 1070.08 feet — since the United States Geological Survey started recording the lake’s water level in 1936, according to data from the USGS website.
