MOSES LAKE — Interested high school students and their families from throughout Grant County and North Central Washington are invited to learn about a new apprenticeship program at a Moses Lake business through a Youth Apprenticeship Information Night set for Sept. 27.

“The youth apprenticeship program is designed to provide students with a blend of paid on-the-job training (part-time) and college-level classroom instruction, all provided at no cost to qualified participants,” according to a press release from the North Central Education Service District. “Upon program completion, students will earn an industry-recognized journey-level certification as a production technician, along with college credits from a community college.”

Genie and AJAC Advanced Manufacturing Apprenticeships are partnering on the program, the press release said.

“Through one-on-one mentorships, youth apprentices will gain hands-on experience using state-of-the-art equipment to develop new products, technologies and an extensive skill set,” the press release said. “Students will become proficient in various essential manufacturing skills, including CNC setup and operations, precision measuring, blueprint reading, advanced machining technologies, welding and mathematical manufacturing.”

Students and parents who want more information can email hcollins@ajactraining.org or carih@ncesd.org.
