| September 11, 2023 2:16 PM

John Patrick McGowan was born May 18, 1945, in Portland, Ore., and passed away Sept. 2, 2023, in Moses Lake, Wash.

John was the firstborn to Dana Easton and Norma Jean (Morris) McGowan.

In 1951, the family moved to Poplar, Mont., where he lived until graduating high school in 1963. Joining the U.S. Navy, he proudly served his country for nearly 25 years. During this time, John met his “forever person” Cynthia Waller. They married Dec. 16, 1972, and immediately began their family. In 1988, he retired from the Navy and moved his family from Jacksonville, Fla., to Seattle, Wash.

In 1992, he made a final move to Moses Lake, Wash., where he will be laid to rest with our mom. He is survived by his children Dana(Tony), Brian(Carla), and Nancy; grandchildren Jordan, Allyson, Joey, Gabriel and Kylee; and siblings Dani Lee, Trudy, Tom, Kelly and Dennis. He is preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia, and parents Dana and Norma.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Wounded Warriors Project on our dad’s behalf in memory of his passion for his country and the military. There will be a “celebration of life” Sept. 16, 2023, at his home as his final wish.
