9-11 memorial to be held in Ephrata
EPHRATA – The American Legion Auxilliary, Unit 28, with assistance from the Legionnaires of the post will host a service at 5:30 p.m. Monday in remembrance of the state’s fallen heroes, according to a press release from the auxiliary.
“Three-hundred banners with pictures of the Washington Falen Heroes will be placed on the lawn of the Grant county Courthouse for people to see and appreciate more the sacrifices made for our freedoms,” the press release said.
The event will begin at the courthouse located at 35 C Street NW in Ephrata at 5:30 p.m. and is expect to last for about 45 minutes. Organizers say they are hopeful that the public will join them in recognizing and honoring local law enforcement, firefighters, other first responders and their families.
“We have the opportunity to honor those whose lives have been lost and show our strength as Americans united by engaging in meaningful service to others,” organizers said in the release. “Take the opportunity this September 11th to make a pledge to seek out and offer ways to be of service.”
Anyone wishing to volunteer to help with putting up the banners or taking them down may contact Jane Montaney at 509-760-1433.
