Ramona Delores Kincaid
Ramona Delores Kincaid, formerly Long, departed this life Oct. 13, 2023. She was 77 years old.
Ramona was born in Wenatchee, Wash., and grew up in Ephrata, Wash. Her parents were William “Bill” C. Long and Evelyn Long, formerly Hoff, on Nov. 9, 1945, and her sister was Christy Long. Bill and Evelyn were lifelong residents of Ephrata, and they raised Ramona and Christy in Ephrata.
Ramona was always proud of her family history as many in the family were hearty pioneers who helped settle the Washington Territory prior to statehood. A graduate of Ephrata High School, Ramona met the love of her life when he was stationed at Larson AFB in Moses Lake, Wash. Ramona and Air Force Airman, Robert “Bob” T. Kincaid, Jr. (79), married in January 1966, in Bitburg, Germany. Together, Robert and Ramona traveled around the world as a military family, eventually raising three children: Robert III (56), Reid (55) and Regan Kincaid (29). Their assignments ranged from Germany to Belgium to England to Spain and to duty in most U.S. states.
Throughout it all, Ramona was a selfless and dedicated wife and mother who devoted all of her time, energy and effort to her family. Even as time and illness began to take their toll on her health, right up to the end, Ramona refused to let frailty interfere with what she viewed as her obligations to her family — she continued to spoil her family members with seemingly endless amounts of humor, love, care and home-cooked meals. Sadly, Ramona’s parents and sister pre-deceased her by many years.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Bob, and their three children. Ramona will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery at a date to be determined where she will one day be reunited with her best friend and the love of her life — Bob Kincaid, LTC (R), USAF.
