Soap Lake residents invited to take Creative District survey

SOAP LAKE — Soap Lake residents are invited to take a survey detailing their priorities for the proposed Soap Lake Creative District, according to an announcement by the city. The results will be reviewed at meetings of the creative district planning committee.

A copy of the survey is available online at the Soap Lake city website, www.soaplakewa.gov, and hard copies are available at the Soap Lake Public Library, 32 Main Ave.

Participants are asked to prioritize a list of community values. They include the status of Soap Lake and maintaining habitat, reducing crime, homelessness and substance abuse; support for existing businesses and creating opportunities for new businesses; being a welcoming community and respecting differences; acknowledging the importance of the lake to Native Americans and preserving its history; and working to involve young people.

Participants also are invited to add any other comments.

The next meeting of the creative district is at 6 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Soap Lake Community Center. Participants will discuss adjustments to the district boundaries and results of the surveys received to date. They will also discuss the next phase of development.
