Eagles post strong results at ITA Northwest Regionals
STANFORD, Calif. — The weekend road trip to California yielded good results for Eastern Washington women's tennis at the ITA Northwest Regionals. The Eagles competed four days (Oct. 12-15) in their second tournament of the fall season.
"We competed really well this weekend against some great players. There are a lot of positives to pull from the tournament but I feel like the biggest positive was how we competed in each match from start to finish," head coach Dustin Hinson said. "We played, in the moment, really well and that allowed us to finish the weekend with some nice results. We had really good wins over St. Mary's, Gonzaga, UC Davis Santa Clara and Pacific. We look forward to a couple more weeks of training here at home before finishing off the fall season at the Gonzaga tournament!"
Singles
Jennifer Kida won the opening round of the singles draw, facing off against Velizara Fileva from Santa Clara. Kida advanced after a two-set win over Fileva (6-3, 6-3). She would fall in her next match to Portland's Sally Pethydbridge (6-1, 6-1).
Isabella Foshee defeated UC Davis' Michelle Zell 6-2, 6-4 to advance to the consolation bracket round of 32.
Scout Mathews also earned a win in her extra singles matches (6-1, 6-1) against Pacific.

In the doubles bracket, Foshee joined up with Mathews to get a win in the round of 64. Foshee and Mathews defeated Saint Mary's Madison Weekley and Olivia Rook. The Eagle pair knocked off the Geals duo, 8-4.
