Tigers defeat Othello 2-1

The Ephrata Tigers defeated Othello 2-1 on Saturday after the Tigers scored a goal late in the second half.

EPHRATA — The Ephrata Tigers came out on top of Saturday’s Central Washington Athletic Conference match on Saturday, defeating Othello 2-1 at home.
The first goal of the game came off a penalty kick by Othello senior Naraiah Guzman, whose penalty shot hit the back of the net to put the Huskies up 1-0. The penalty kick was set up by a hand ball in the Tiger goal box in the 14th minute of the game.
Ephrata senior Emily Ellsworth scored the equalizer in the second half, assisted by sophomore Lila Rainey, and the Tigers took the lead on a goal by junior Kaydence Hector in the 76th minute.
The Tigers improved to 6-7 ahead of Thursday’s game against East Valley (Yakima). Othello fell to 5-8 after Tuesday’s loss to East Valley.
