Kipp Joseph Reich

| October 6, 2023 1:28 PM

It is with broken hearts that we have lost Kipp Joseph Reich, 58. He passed away peacefully at his home in Moses Lake on Oct. 3, 2023.

Kipp was just short of his 59th birthday Nov. 5, a day he shares with his niece Jodee Garrett. He was part of his family’s birthdays that landed within a week of each other … calling themselves the “Group Shoot.” Bobby Garrett, Jodee Garrett, Nicole Cobb, Kipp Reich and John Reich will always be the “Group Shoot” Birthday Club.

Born in 1964 in Yakima, he was adopted at the age of three months by Margie and John (Smokey) Reich. Kipp was their pride and joy, being the baby of the family. Kipp grew up in Moses Lake where he enjoyed motocross, fishing, hunting, and getting into some mischief with his friends. After high school Kipp worked as a “black topper,” learning the trade of driving a paver from his father. He continued to pave roads all over the northwest until his death.

Kipp married Marie Foryan in 1989. They divorced but not before giving Kipp the biggest joy of his life, his daughter Nicole. He was a single father and enjoyed every minute with his little girl taking her fishing, hunting and teaching her to ride her four-wheeler in the sand dunes.

The sun rose and set on Nicole. If you looked up the meaning of “Best Dad” you would find Kipp’s name. When Nicole married Jordan Cobb, he said he was not giving away his daughter, but gaining a son. The icing on that cake was when Nicole and Jordan gave Kipp a granddaughter earlier this year. He was looking forward to adding “Best Grandpa” to his resume.

Kipp always had a canine companion, he loved his big dogs, the last one being a big ol’ Chocolate Lab named Blue. Kipp loved his Dodge pickup, but his 1974 Blue Ford Bronco was his fun toy to drive in the summer with the top off.

Kipp is survived by his daughter Nicole (Jordan) Cobb; granddaughter Karson Cobb; parents, Marjorie and John Reich; sister Sue (Ron) Tebow; sister Joyce (Dave) Graesch; brother Matt (Dollie) Reich and some of the best nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles around.

The Reich family is a close bunch of people and Kipp is leaving us with a big hole in our hearts. He will be missed at every Christmas gathering, Sunday breakfasts and birthday parties because there will never be another Kipp.

Graveside service will be held at Pioneer Memorial Gardens in Moses Lake on Tuesday, Oct.10, at 1 p.m.

Reception following at Moses Lake Municipal Airport, 3540 Municipal Airport Rd NE, Hanger #28 (Tom Dent Hanger).
