Dale Smith

Dale Earl Smith, 94 years young, passed away Monday, Sept. 25, 2023, in Ephrata. Dale was born Aug. 11, 1929, in Bayard, Neb. He was raised on farms in Morrill County with eight siblings.

His dream was to own his own farm so the family moved to Othello in 1962 because of a drawing for farm units in the Columbia Basin project and developed a farm in 1963 on the Royal Slope.

He is survived by Donna, his wife of 71 years (Ephrata) and four children: Jan (Randy) Williamson, Oregon; Alan (Sheila) Smith, Seattle; Gary(Jan) Smith, Spokane; Shari Smith and Bob Rapp, Ellensburg. There are also seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren plus one coming soon.

There was a celebration party Oct. 7, 2023, at the family home in Ephrata.

All who knew him will miss his jokes and stories.
