Judy Ottmar Brady
It is with broken hearts that we announce the loss of the matriarch of the family. Judy Ottmar Brady passed away peacefully in her sleep Sept. 29, 2023, at the age of 78.
Born Judy Ann Birch on May 19, 1945, to parents Betty Gibson and "daddy" Don Gibson, she joined sister Marilyn and soon after, brother Jack Gibson would complete the family.
With "daddy" being a union electrician, they moved a lot with his job during her childhood. So, in 1962, Judy was happy to settle down in Moses Lake where she raised her two sons, Joe and Kelly, with her husband, Bob Ottmar.
Judy was a stay-at-home mom for most of her life. She was a volunteer with the crisis line for many years while raising the boys. She was also very active as a "sports" mom, acting as president of the local Little League baseball team. After the boys were grown, she worked many years with New Hope domestic violence and was a secretary for the Columbia Basin Elks Lodge for many years.
Later in life, Judy married Gary Brady and spent her time in Kansas until his passing. She then moved back home to be close to her boys.
Family was Judy’s treasure.
She always looked forward to the holidays and all that they entailed. Decorating for the holidays always gave her joy. Her favorite side on any holiday was mashed potatoes and gravy. No matter the holiday, it was her number one request on the menu.
She cherished her brunch time at Kelly and Melanie’s house every Sunday. It was her once-a-week social outing and visit with her friend Ruth. Just spending time with her boys and their families was all she ever wanted and needed for joy and happiness.
Judy was an avid fan of "Big Brother." She never missed an episode from the start. She loved elephants and flowers blooming in the spring.
She is at peace now and with those who she loved who passed before her. For that, we are all grateful.
Judy is survived by her sons, Joe (Denyse) Ottmar and Kelly (Melanie) Ottmar, brother Jack (Kimberly) Gibson, grandchildren Kayla (T.C) Naccarato and Coy Ottmar, great-granddaughter Staylie Naccarato, several nieces and nephews and her extended family in Kansas.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Marilyn and her spouses.
Rest in peace mom, we will love and miss you always.
A celebration of Judy’s life for family and friends will be scheduled for a later date.
