MOSES LAKE — Authorities are seeking information about a residential fire in Moses Lake on Tuesday morning, according to a statement from the city of Moses Lake.

Moses Lake firefighters were dispatched to a reported brush fire in the area of Gibby Road and Lee Drive at 5:21 a.m., according to the statement. While they were en route, they were advised by the Multi-Agency Communications Center that the blaze was actually a structure fire on Marine Drive. When they arrived, crews found a two-story residence well involved in flames, with fire venting from the roof and both stories of the house.

Firefighters were able to knock down the blaze and bring it under control within about 20 minutes, the statement said. The building was under construction and unoccupied at the time of the fire. Because it was under construction, the building was especially susceptible to rapid fire growth, and the structural frame was destroyed.

The home was owned by a resident of Camano Island, according to county records. The building permit for the home was issued in June and was valued at $206,898.74.

Investigation revealed that the fire was caused by arson, the statement said. Anyone with information regarding this fire is urged to contact the Moses Lake Fire Marshal’s Office at 509-765-2204.
