MOSES LAKE — After a tough past weekend of play, the Lady Vikes hoped to get on track in a preseason match-up versus a conference opponent as they hosted the Spokane Falls Community College Sasquatch on Tuesday at the Devries Activity Center.

The Lady Vikes came out flying, the offense was clicking while playing lockdown defense on the other end. Shooting has been the early question mark for the Lady Vikes, but not against the Sasquatch. BBCC shot 61% from the floor and were perfect from the free throw line giving them an early 27-11 lead after the first quarter. The second quarter was much of the same, as the Lady Vikes shot 71% from the floor and were again perfect from the charity stripe going into half time leading 50-32.

Entering the second half up 18 points, BBCC knew they had to continue to play clean to secure the win. The offense came out flat in the second half only shooting 38% from the floor in the third quarter and going 1-4 from the free throw line. Fortunately, Spokane was unable to gain any ground as both squads managed 11 points apiece in the third quarter entering the fourth and final quarter with the Lady Vikes up 18. After a sluggish third quarter, the shooting improved to 50% from the floor resulting in BBCC taking the victory by a score of 78-56.

Kali Kast and Riley Layton both dropped 18 points on an efficient 15-23 combined shooting, with Kast ripping down 11 rebounds securing her first double-double of the season. Brooklyn Hutlet also chipped in with 10 points and five assists along with Ruth Flores adding in 9 points and six rebounds in the win.

The Lady Vikes prepare for this upcoming weekend as they battle it out in the Everett Classic as they play, Clackamas CC, the host Everett CC and Skagit Valley CC with single games Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
