Frank Harold Sparks

Frank H. Sparks, 87, of Royal City, Wash., passed away Nov. 25, 2023, surrounded by his family. 

Frank was born in 1936 to Frank and Dorothy Sparks in Mohler, Idaho. The oldest of six children, Frank spent his childhood in Idaho. He married Jessie Tapio on June 28, 1958, and moved to Royal City, where they farmed and raised six children. Frank honorably served a term in the National Guard.

Frank met and married Mary Summers on March 19, 2010, and added three stepchildren and five grandchildren to his family.

Frank was a humble, modest man of faith. He tried to fulfill the plan God laid out for him and did his best to follow the teachings of the Bible at home, work, fellowship and worship. Frank was active in his community, loved to help people and volunteered many hours at the Royal City Food Bank. Being an avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. 

Frank was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Dorothy Sparks, his wife Jessie Sparks, his brother Lloyd Sparks, and granddaughter Jami Bean.

Frank is survived by his wife, Mary Sparks; sisters Jerene Shenefelt, Reva Eisenbarth and Joyce Smith; brother Dwain Sparks; and children Josie Bean, Hollie (Kevin) Halliday, Patty (Scott) Robbins, Dawn (Frank Fick) Sparks, Kenneth (Michelle) Sparks, Linious (Tricia) Sparks, Shari (Chris) Johnson, Jules Summers and Wayne Summers. Frank had 31 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 9, at 11 a.m., at the Othello Presbyterian Church, 715 E. Scootney St., in Othello, Washington. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Royal City Food Bank.

His loss will be felt deeply by his family, friends, and community.
