EPHRATA — Two Veterans Day celebrations are planned in the area for Saturday. Ephrata’s American Legion post and Quincy’s Veterans Operation Creation both have events going on.

Ephrata

American Legion Art Semro Post 28 and its Auxiliary will host a parade in downtown Ephrata beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the Grant County Courthouse. The parade route will circle around downtown and a rifle salute will be held in front of the Ephrata Chamber of Commerce’s office at 11 a.m. in honor of Armistice Day. Upon the return to the courthouse, a second salute will be fired in honor of Vietnam veterans near the memorial for that war at the courthouse. The post is also hosting a luncheon afterward at the post building with soup and sandwiches for veterans and their families.

Quincy

Veterans Operation Creation will host a Veterans Day celebration that includes a fun run and an Elvis Presley tribute performer. The fun starts at 8 a.m. with a 5K walk and fun run at Mountain View School. Those with an ear for a little “Blue Suede Shoes” can join Steve Sogura & the Soul Searching Band at 7 p.m. at Quincy High School’s Performing Arts Center for live music. A luminary remembrance for veterans will also be conducted at the Quincy Cemetery. For more information, visit facebook.com/OpCreate.

Veterans participate in the 2022 Ephrata Veterans Day Parade. This year's parade will be its 26th year.

Veterans and their families enjoy a meal together during the American Legion Post 28 Veterans Day Luncheon last year.
