Robin "Bob" T. Yearout
Our loving husband and father, Robin “Bob” Trego Yearout, passed away Oct. 11, 2023, at the age of 94 in his Spokane, Wash., home. Bob was born in Yakima, Wash., on Sept. 3, 1929, to Peter and Maxine (McCachren) Yearout and was raised on the family farm outside of Harrah, Wash.
Bob left home at the age of 16 in 1945 to enlist in the United States Army, where he served his country loyally for 21 years, retiring honorably in 1966. During his service, Bob was deployed to the Korean War conflict in 1950 and while in the Army earned the National Defensive Service Medal, Expert Rifleman Medal and four Medals for Good Conduct.
On Feb. 8, 1955, Bob married Erma Hubbell in Prosser, Wash., whom he had met in Twin Falls, Idaho. After Bob retired from the military, he and Erma moved to Moses Lake, Wash., to raise their six children. Bob began working as a heavy diesel mechanic alongside his brother Mike, forming their own business called Mechanics Unlimited. Later, Bob joined G&O Trucking as their mechanic where he worked for approximately 25 years, until retiring in 1994.
Bob was a thoughtful man and kind soul, who cared greatly about his family, appreciated a good cup of coffee and enjoyed staying active during retirement. You could often find Bob out in the garage doing a woodworking project or cooking in the kitchen while humming a tune. Yet it was through square dancing that Bob learned to stretch his long legs and spent many years with the Wheatland Whirlers of Ephrata, Wash., as their club caller.
Square dancing not only provided Bob with many years of happiness but also fortunately introduced him to his second wife Martha Bentley. Bob & Marty were married June 6, 2003 in Wenatchee, Wash., initially residing in Moses Lake. They later moved to Soap Lake and lived there until November of 2021 before relocating to Spokane.
Bob was preceded in death by his first wife, Erma, after 37 years of marriage, parents Peter and Maxine, sisters Sally and Merilee, brother John and his son, Dana.
Surviving Bob are his loving wife Marty, brother Mike, children Jesse, Tina, Robin, Terryl and Trego, step-children Natalie, Andy and Debbie, 19 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren.
