MOSES LAKE — Coming off of their first weekend and having the opportunity to compete in their first tournament, Coach Dickerson hoped to take steps forward in molding the BBCC men's wrestling program. As Dickerson stated he hoped that this weekend would give his players "some much-needed mat time." As all coaches know, the beginning of the season can pose its challenges. "Our first tournament of the season had its ups and downs but we grew as a team."

With both wrestling programs having new coaches, they both seem to take the same approach when it comes to their vision for BBCC wrestling, daily progress. Dickerson had this to say regarding the Mountaineer Open, "We picked up some great wins to start off the season. Mark Martinez and Liam Lucas both fell short in the semifinals match but came back strong and Mark was able to place fifth." Dickerson also highlighted the physical and mental challenges with this particular tournament format. "In a double elimination tournament, it is important to keep your composer after a tough loss."

Only having one Vike place in the Eastern Oregon Mountaineer Open, Dickerson remains optimistic, "Right now it is about mat time and growing in our technique." Understanding that the season is a marathon and not a sprint gives the program the understanding that they will not get to their ultimate goal overnight.

Entering meaningful matches ups the value of each victory, BBCC opens up conference this week with a dual vs. Grays Harbor on Saturday, Nov. 11. Following the Grays Harbor match, BBCC will travel to Forest Grove, Oregon for the Mike Clock Open on Sunday, Nov. 12.
