Rickie (Rick) Hunter

Rickie Hunter, 67, passed away on May 1 at Samaritan Hospital from complications with pneumonia. His daughter Tami, his son-in-law Matt and his very special friend Beth Donegan were by his side.

Rick was born on Aug. 21, 1956, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, to parents Gordon and Margarete Hunter. Rick lived in Germany in his younger years due to his father’s military service. He spent the majority of his life in Moses Lake after his father retired in 1969. Rick worked at Carnation for 18 years until he had a work accident that made him permanently disabled.

In his younger years, Rick enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with his family at the Sand Dunes. He was known for his elaborate fireworks on the Fourth of July. In his later years, he loved spending time with his favorite furry companion, Kilo, at the Sand Dunes. Rick will always be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents Gordon and Margarete Hunter and his brothers Tom and Michael. He is survived by his children Tami (Matt) Wilson, Jacob (Leslie) Hunter and Rikki Lynn Hunter and his eight grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Roy (Ginger) Hunter, Bill (Renee) Hunter, Bob (Kathy) Hunter, Patricia (Adolf) Vasquez and Tanya (Chris) Kanoff.

Rick’s family would like to offer a special thanks to the nursing staff at Samaritan Hospital for taking great care of Rick during his stay. They would also like to thank Beth Donegan for her friendship with Rick over the years. A remembrance service will be held at Chico’s on June 11 at 3:30 pm. All are welcome.
