MOSES LAKE – The 23rd annual Moses Lake Chamber of Commerce Golf Scramble was held on Friday, bringing in members of the business community to the Moses Lake Golf Club for an exciting day of golf and side games.

“The tournament was excellent,” said Debbie Doran-Martinez, president and CEO of the Moses Lake Chamber of Commerce. “We had the best weather, lots of fun and a full field of golfers. 144 of them out there.”

The full field of golfers continued the community involvement the tournament has seen through its 23 years.

“The support of our golf tournament is fabulous,” Doran-Martinez said. “Everybody comes out very supportive of our fundraising efforts, and everybody has a great time.”

Devine Chiropractic finished in first place in the men’s division and the Moses Lake Shed Company came in first place in the mixed division.

“Of course (they win) bragging rights, but this year we got some Chamber branded golf pullovers for the winning teams,” Doran-Martinez said.

Of the various side games, the winner of the Great Genie Ball Drop took home $795. Chairman of the Board of Directors for the chamber Jim McKiernan went up in a Genie lift, dropping the numerous golf balls onto a practice green.

The Moses Lake Chamber of Commerce Golf Scramble raises money for the various expenses that come with running the chamber – things like postage, maps and more – without raising member dues.

Doran-Martinez said that while this year’s total funds raised haven’t been calculated yet, she estimates that it is around $15,000.

“It helps us fund those expenses, so we don’t have to raise our member dues,” Doran-Martinez said. “By bringing in some non-dues revenue, it helps us sustain our operation here.”
