COLUMBIA BASIN – The reports below were provided by the sheriff’s office or police department indicated. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Ephrata PD

May 3

Report of a subject beating up his own vehicle in the 100 block of Alder Street Northwest. Subject said his vehicle had been impounded the night before. Subject said he was angry that the vehicle would not start in the morning and upset at the amount of money it would cost to repair.

Report of a two-vehicle non-injury collision in the 1100 block of Basin Street Southwest.

Report of an attempted camper break-in. Unknown subject broke a key off in the lock. Nothing appeared to have been taken.

May 4

Report of a vehicle theft in the 10 block of G Street Southwest. Subject visited victim briefly at victim’s residence, then got in the vehicle and fled. The subject was located just outside of town. Subject admitted taking the vehicle because the person she believed owned the vehicle asked her to.

Report of a vehicle egged on E Street Southeast.

May 6

Report of a window damaged in the 1200 block of Yakima Street Southeast.

Report of a vehicle collision in the area of SR 283 and SR 28. Minor injuries were reported.

May 7

Report of a two-vehicle collision at D Street and First Avenue Southeast.

May 8

Report of a vehicle driving erratically on Railroad Avenue Northwest. Vehicle was stopped in the 2300 block of Cherry Blossom Drive. Oscar Reyes Gonzalez, 26, of Ephrata was arrested, processed for DUI, cited and released.

Report of a firearm stolen from a residence on Basin Street Southwest.

Report of theft from a business in the 1300 block of Nat Washington Way. Subject was observed concealing items in a backpack. Subject was detained and items recovered.

May 9

Report of graffiti on a building in the 1600 block of Division Avenue East.

Report of graffiti on a phone box on Third Avenue Southwest.

Report of a two-vehicle non-injury collision at Fifth Avenue Southeast and Nat Washington Way.

Report of a two-vehicle non-injury collision in the 1100 block of Basin Street Southwest.

Gilberto Villa Vargas, 29,. Moses Lake, booked on third-degree theft and resisting arrest, as well as Grant County District Court warrants relating to DUI and operating a vehicle without an ignition interlock.

Alfredo Ochoa Castaneda, 30, Moses Lake, booked on third-degree driving with license suspended and operating a vehicle without an ignition interlock.

Gilda Crescenciano Olivan, 31, Royal City, booked on DUI.

May 4

Michael Motorhi Bensal, 46, Soap Lake, booked on fourth-degree assault – domestic violence.

May 5

Andrea Lynn Botts, 30, Republic, booked on second-degree theft and second-degree theft with intent to resell.

Nilson Mejia Cruz, 27, Royal City, booked on fourth-degree assault – domestic violence.

Jaeden J. Norman, 18, Soap Lake, booked on fourth-degree assault – domestic violence.

Randy Ortiz, 40, Quincy, booked on felony-harassment – domestic violence and fourth-degree assault – domestic violence.

Hector Ahumada Perez, 27, Moses Lake, booked on fourth-degree assault – domestic violence and making false or misleading statements, as well as a Yakima County Superior Court warrant relating to felony harassment.
