MOSES LAKE — The Moses Lake Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for its 23rd Annual Golf Scramble, a fundraiser which helps support the chamber financially.

“It’s a fundraiser for us to operate, because a lot of the things that we do here, we do for free,” said Debbie Doran-Martinez, president and CEO of the Moses Lake Chamber of Commerce. “We give out information to people, we have different publications that we do, we have maps. All of those things that we do we all give it away, so there’s no revenue generating for what we give away. This helps manage our operation and fund it.”

While the tournament is sold out for golfers, the Golf Scramble is still seeking sponsorships.

“We have sponsorships ranging from the driving range to the carts, to the photographer, the lunch – you name it, we’ve got a sponsorship for it,” Doran-Martinez said.

The shotgun start-style tournament begins at 10 a.m. on Friday at the Moses Lake Golf Club.

“We always sell out every year, so we’ll have 144 golfers,” Doran-Martinez said. “They’ll be stacked, two teams on every hole.”

Along with the tournament itself, the Golf Scramble includes various side games like the Great Genie Ball Drop, where numerous Nerf golf balls are taken up into a Genie lift and dropped onto a practice green, where whichever ball goes in the hole splits the pot.

“We have different contest holes out there where whoever wins the contest wins the prize,” Doran-Martinez said. “We also sell what’s called a super ticket, and part of the super ticket is entry into all of our side games and (raffles).”

Sponsorships start at $650 for greens and increase for each level. Those interested in becoming a sponsor can contact the Chamber at 509-765-7888.

“We just want to give an opportunity for the business community to mingle, network and have a good time doing so while supporting the chamber,” Doran-Martinez said.
