Delmar Laib
February 22, 1934 – May 3, 2023
Delmar George Laib was born Feb. 22, 1934, in Warden, Washington to Edward and Emma (Stoller) Laib. Delmar passed in the evening of Wednesday, May 3, 2023.
Delmar grew up on the family farm in Warden with his seven sisters and three brothers. He attended Warden schools until he moved to Ritzville, Washington in the summer of 1948, where he eventually graduated from high school. Delmar was an excellent student and always achieved high grades.
In December 1957, Delmar married the love of his life, Marian Janet Depee. At that time they moved to his brother Alvin’s wheat ranch at Warden, Washington and when Alvin retired, Delmar and Marian took over the farm where he remained until November of 2022. At that time, medical issues forced him to reside at Lakeridge Nursing Home in Moses Lake, Washington until his death.
Delmar loved to fish when work on the farm was completed and time allowed. Family vacations usually were short-distance trips in the family camper. Delmar also enjoyed pheasant hunting in his younger years. He was a member of the Warden Community Church and served in many different capacities there throughout the years.
Delmar had the biggest heart and would help anyone in need. He loved his family more than life and always lit up every time the grandchildren and great-grandchildren would come see him. Delmar also enjoyed good food! People often wondered how he could eat the volume of food he did and not have a weight problem. He especially enjoyed Molly Kisler’s cookies and his daughter Karen’s potato salad.
Delmar was preceded in death by his parents Edward Laib and Emma (Stoller) Laib; his brothers Herbert Laib and Alvin Laib; and sisters Irma Floether, Lenora Sackmann, Edna Langenheader, Verna Burghard and Lillian Nix. Delmar is survived by his sisters Della Kiesz and June Larsen and brother Harvey Laib. He is also survived by his children Tim Laib, Glen (Michelle) Laib and Karen (Mike) McClure; grandchildren Nicole Rutledge, Leslie Winter, Shawn Laib, Kaycie (Justin) Rollins, Samantha Wilmart and Mark Laib; and great-grandchildren Kaylee Winter, Wyatt Rutledge, Harper Rollins, Hudson Rollins and Henry Rollins.
