Larry Holterhoff

| March 23, 2023 9:50 AM

Larry Holterhoff, 74, passed away in Central Washington Hospital just weeks after being diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). He was born in Wenatchee, Washington to Kenneth and Doris Holterhoff. He and his three brothers were all raised in Ephrata where Larry graduated high school in 1966. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1967. Larry served in the military for three years where he earned both Vietnam and National Defense Service Medals.

Larry met his wife of 50 years, Debbie, in 1970 where he would say he fell in love with her and her red Volkswagen Bug. They were married on Dec. 16, 1972. Larry and Debbie made their home in Ephrata and would eventually welcome their two sons, Ryan and Todd. Larry worked for Grant PUD, mostly as journeyman lineman, for 38 years.

In 2005, Larry and Debbie moved to Moses Lake. He retired from Grant PUD in 2010 and would go on to do various contracting work at windmill farm sites for several more years. Larry tolerated most things in life but truly enjoyed the time he was able to spend at his cabin on the Entiat River.

Larry is preceded in death by both of his parents and three brothers Jim, Jerry and Paul; father- and mother-in-law Irvin and Frieda Johnson; brothers-in-law Ed Meek and Jim Fleishman; sisters-in-law Sonja Sackmann and Julene Fleishman and nephew Randy Meek. He is survived by his wife Debbie of Moses Lake; sons Ryan (Lisa) Holterhoff of Moses Lake and Todd (Melanie) Holterhoff of Hopedale, Massachusetts; five grandchildren Camryn, Makenzie, Trey, Grant and Tate; brother-in-law Steve Sackmann; sisters-in-law Judie Meek, Jackie Sackmann and Janice Holterhoff and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on March 31 at 11 a.m. at the Jamison’s Event Center, 605 E. Nelson Road in Moses Lake. Please leave your thoughts, memories or stories at www.chapelofthevalleyncw.com.
