MOSES LAKE — The sounds of the Caribbean will be coming to the stage at the Wallenstien Performing Arts Center; the Cayman Islands duo Hi Tide will perform in concert at 7 p.m. April 3.

The concert is sponsored by the Central Basin Community Concert Association.

The duo of Shane Allenger and Sean Hennings combine acoustic guitar, drums and vocals with the beat of their native islands. Both provide vocals; Allenger is the percussionist, and Hennings plays guitar. Their repertoire includes pop classics, featuring artists from Bob Marley to America, along with original music. They have released 13 albums.

“A warm vacation vibe in our cool spring,” said CBCCA board member Carla McKean.

It’s the third of four concerts for CBCCA’s 2022-23 season. McKean said bringing a wide variety of performers and performances has always been part of the group’s mission, dating back to its founding in 1954.

“We are bringing quality world music by quality people,” McKean said.

The CBCCA has always been a part of her life, she said. Her mother was a music teacher and one of the organization’s founders.

“I grew up going to Central Basin concerts,” she said.

The concert association used to be a subscription series only, where members bought tickets for the entire season. The CBCCA board changed that requirement a few years ago, and now tickets are available for individual shows and can be purchased at the door. They’re also available at the CBCCA website, www.communityconcertsml.com.

The Wallenstien Theater is on the Big Bend Community College campus, 6989 College Parkway NE.

Tickets are $30 for adults, $65 for families and $10 for students. A single-parent family ticket is $35 and tickets for music students and music teachers are $5.

The Sapphire Trio presents the season finale concert May 5. The three-woman trio features music instructors and performers who wanted to play classical and contemporary music for violin, clarinet and piano.
