Darrell Adolphsen
January 21, 1952 – February 24, 2023
Darrell Kenneth Adolphsen, 71, passed away on Feb. 24, 2023, at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee, Washington, after a brief illness. Born in Portland, Oregon on Jan. 21, 1952, to Gordon and Marcella Adolphsen, he was the youngest of three children. Darrell grew up and attended school in Moses Lake, Washington. In 1970 he married Coral Smith. They had two children, Angelete (Friedbauer) and Boe Adolphsen. From May 1979 to 1999, he was married to Kim Morlan (Johnson).
Darrell worked at Chief Moses Middle School, and more recently at Longview Elementary as a custodian, where the students adored him. He was well known for his bottomless pockets of Life Savers. He retired from the school district in 2020.
Darrell enjoyed and excelled at many sports. He had so much fun playing slow-pitch softball for city teams, coaching youth Little League and Babe Ruth, bowling and golfing with friends and family. In later years, he was a dedicated and loving grandpa to Corbin and Mikayla, passing on to them his athletic skills. He was well known around the softball fields and never missed watching any of their local games. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his sister, Janice Pitts (Dave); his brother Jim Adolphsen (Faye); his children and his two grandchildren Corbin Wortham, 23, and Mikayla Friedbauer, 16.
Memories, photos and tributes can be posted online at the Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee, Washington website.
