Moses Lake development waiting for roundabout
MOSES LAKE - The owners of about 100 acres of land in Moses Lake adjacent to State Route 17 have big development plans for the land but are currently waiting on the installation of a roundabout before those plans can be implemented.
“We’re kind of in a holding pattern right now,” said Kevin Edwards, the registered agent of Desert Point Center LLC, Spokane-based half-owner of the plot in question. The other half of the plot is owned by GVD Commercial Properties, Inc., which has offices in Spokane and Orange, California.
According to Grant County records, the parcels of land were purchased by Desert Point and GVD Commercial in August of 2022 for $7.6 million. The plots were assessed by Grant County at a combined value of $690,000.
Edwards explained that while they have no specific plans, as they are waiting for the Department of Transportation to fund and install a roundabout for the sake of access to the plot, they envision first-class hotels, retailers, offices, grocery stores and other big-box establishments.
A roundabout is planned for the area, according to the city of Moses Lake Engineering Department. The roundabout would facilitate an extension of Yonezawa Boulevard East, which would connect with Moses Lake Avenue near Groff Elementary School. The project is part of the city’s six-year transportation improvement plan.
