MOSES LAKE — Most of the time, new housing developments crop up on the edge of town. But The Place at Knolls Vista, one of two CAD Homes projects in Moses Lake, is smack in the middle of one of the oldest neighborhoods in town.
“It's a lot more difficult, because you're not working with nice big squares,” said CAD Homes owner Drew Scott.
The development is located at the northwest end of West Pine Drive. There are 27 lots under development now, Scott said, and four more coming, for a total of 31. Most of it is in the excavation stages, although two houses that face onto Grape Drive are on their way to completion.
“Those were kind of the gimmies that were already against the finished road,” Scott said. “It’s all part of the same plat, but we bonded and started those ones a little earlier since all the infrastructure was there. We had to tie into the sewer and all. So those ones were pretty easy.”
Those two houses have already sold, Scott said, and so have five more. CAD is waiting until the roads are completed, around July 10, before starting to market the homes seriously, he added.
The homes range in size from 825 to 2,110 square feet, according to CAD’s website. The website also says that The Place at Knolls Vista includes some of the company’s most economically-friendly homes. Prices start in the neighborhood of $280,000, Scott said.
The roads should be finished around July 10, Scott said, and construction will begin to go vertical at that time. The city won’t issue any more permits until the road is finished, he explained.
“As soon as we get pavement, we'll have permits,” he said. “I think we've got nine we've applied for permits for that we'll start pretty much right away.”
Once the homes are under construction, they’ll take between 100 and 120 days to complete, Scott said. That will make the development complete in early November.
“We're excited to get going,” Scott said. “It’s a great neighborhood.”
