Youth photo contest deadline Aug. 11
Managing Editor R. Hans “Rob” Miller’s dog, Cinnamon, takes a nap on a favorite blanket. While his photo of Cinnamon – also known as Munamun – isn’t eligible for the Moses Lake Museum & Art Center’s “Fuzzy Friends in Focus” contest, your child’s photo of his or her beloved pet likely is. Submissions are due by Aug. 11.

MOSES LAKE — Entries must be submitted by Aug. 11 for a photography show featuring children and their pets — or maybe just animals that they like. The “Fuzzy Friends in Focus” show will be on display from Aug. 25 through Oct. 6 at the Moses Lake Museum & Art Center, 401 S. Balsam St.
The contest is open to young people from two to 18 years of age. Entry is free.
“All you need to do is take a snapshot of your favorite animal and we will do the rest,” according to a museum press release. All animal pictures will be accepted, from cats and dogs to goats and turkeys and anything in between, the press release said.
The limit is three entries per child. All photographs must be original and created by the photographer submitting them. Young children may get some help from an adult.
Entries should be mailed to exhibit organizers at firstname.lastname@example.org. Parents can contact the museum, 509-764-3830, to make alternate arrangements.
All photos will be printed by museum staff on 8x10 paper for display. Artists should include their name and age, photo title and phone number. Prizes include gift cards from local businesses.
