Jolene Geiss
August 18, 1956 – July 9, 2023
Jolene Maree Geiss, beloved mother, and grandmother, passed away on July 9, 2023, at the age of 66.
Jolene was born in Hardin, Montana on Aug. 18, 1956, to Cecilia “Cee Cee” and Joseph Geiss. Jolene was raised in the Yakima Valley and Selah, Washington.
She graduated from Selah High School in 1975. After graduation Jolene found her passion for photography and worked in the industry for many years, first at Ken Whitmire and Associates and later for Stephen K. Wolfe Photography. Jolene was also an avid University of Washington Husky fan, and you knew that by looking at her car or simply going into her home. She also loved to wear a lot of “bling bling” and naturally got that from her mother, Cee Cee.
In the late 1980s she met Dave Marshall and was blessed with two beautiful daughters Tayler and Carter Marshall, who were the light of her life. She loved nothing more than spending time with her girls, whether it was shopping at her favorite stores, having dinner nights or just being present. Her favorite and most precious time was spent with her granddaughter Aspyn Jolene Buley, “AJ” as she would call her. Being able to watch AJ enjoy life, whether it was playing softball, painting with her, having pizza/ice cream nights, or just watching TV and laughing together was the greatest reward of being a grandma for Jolene.
She was strong-willed and stubborn at times, but also had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor that made anyone smile or laugh. She was generous, loyal and strong and would give what little she had to someone who needed it without thinking twice. She will be remembered for all the heart she shared with her friends and family. Jolene will be dearly missed by her family, especially her two girls, her granddaughter, and her Bethy.
Jolene is survived by her two daughters Tayler Lee Marshall and Carter Cee Cee Marshall; granddaughter Aspyn Jolene Buley; sisters Tana Y. Geiss (Chuck Brown) of Moses Lake, Washington and Belinda Karras (Mike); brothers Martin J. Carrell (Aurora) of Burbank, Washington and Dennis Geiss (Lori); her nieces Tamara Beth Kirkpatrick, her “Bethy Wethy”, of Moses Lake, Washington, and Sara Carrell of Kennewick, Washington; nephews Dustin Cole Kirkpatrick of Quincy, Washington, Justin Walker (Alicia) of Moses Lake, Washington and Zach Carrell of Burbank, Washington; aunts Connie and Marie of Moses Lake, Washington and numerous cousins.
She is preceded in death by her mother Cee Cee Carrell; stepdad Ron Carrell; father Joseph Geiss; sister Lavonne “Kay” Carrell; niece Sloane Dwinell; nephew Kyle Rodman; uncles Elmo, Joe and Jesse and aunt Rose.
Her funeral will be held at Kayser’s Chapel in Moses Lake, Washington on Saturday, July 29 at 1 p.m. We ask, in true Jolene fashion, that you wear Husky colors (purple and gold) to her funeral. If not, let’s be bright! She would not want everyone in black. A reception will follow at Tana’s home, 4017 Dunn St. in Moses Lake. In lieu of flowers, her girls are asking for any contributions to be made to Kayser’s Chapel of Memories.
