EPHRATA – The Ephrata Chamber of Commerce will host the 2023 Anything With Wheels Car Show and Shine this Saturday at C Street Northwest. The show will begin at 8 a.m.

Rita Witte, director for the Ephrata Chamber of Commerce, spoke a bit about the car show, which has been an annual event in Ephrata for eleven years.

“Last year was our biggest year. We had 153 cars. It was a really good show. We really enjoyed it, and I think a number of people did too, so hopefully they’ll be back,” said Witte.

An event itinerary provided by the chamber of commerce details the specific organization of Saturday’s event, the registration for which is done online. According to Witte, if registrants do not have their car entered into the show by 10 a.m. on Saturday they will not be considered for the competition and judging portion of the event.

The judges will assess each registered car from 10 a.m. to noon. Witte stated that nearly thirty awards will be handed out for features ranging from best import to loudest pipes and other similar categories.

Witte explained why the chamber continues to put on the event, which started in coordination with the Basin Summer Sounds music festival but has gone on several years after Basin Summer Sounds was disbanded.

“It brings people into our community, and hopefully people will stop at different businesses…and see what’s going on in Ephrata,” she said.

Aside from admiring cars, eventgoers will be able to participate in several planned activities listed on the itinerary. Participants who register a car in the show will be automatically entered into drawings for door prizes and will also be able to purchase a raffle ticket for a chance at winning 50% of the total raffle pot. The other 50% will go to the Columbia Basin Cancer Foundation, Witte said. Additionally, at least one food vendor will be open for business at the event until 1 p.m.

The itinerary also includes a Poker Walk from 11 a.m. to noon, during which car show entrants will walk to various stations at the event and attempt to assemble the best five-card poker hand for a chance at a cash prize. Witte said Summit Racing will also sponsor a children’s event during the car show. The primary sponsors for the main event are Ephrata Grocery Outlet and Pro Auto Repair, LLC.

Witte remarked that chamber members really enjoyed organizing and attending the event and seeing people come out and look at the cars.

“We just want to see people come to town and enjoy it and have a great day,” she said.
